BCensemblen näyttely Trashific! käsittelee käytettyjen, hylättyjen materiaalien kautta niihin liittyviä tarinoita, elämää ja ajankulkua. Teoksien materiaaleina on käytetty kotitalouteen kertyneitä roskia kuten elintarvikepakkauksien pahveja sekä lahjoituksena saatuja kierrätysmateriaaleja.
Taiteilijapari Milla ja Petri Neuvonen on tehnyt kierrätystaidetta yhdessä yli 20 vuotta. He kehittävät työskentelytapoja kulloisenkin materiaalin mukaan. Näyttelyn uusimmat teokset ovat syntyneet lahjoituksena saaduista Taide-lehdistä, jotka muodostavat yhdessä rikkinäisten pyörän sisäkumien ja askartelupajoista ylijääneiden sanomalehtien kanssa kollaasimaisen muotokuvaparin. Heitä kiehtoo saada kierrätysmateriaalista, jopa roskasta, maalauksellinen jälki hävittämättä kuitenkaan sen tunnistettavuutta.
”Kierrätystaiteilijoina työskentelymme on hyvin materiaalilähtöistä. Haluamme kunnioittaa keräämäämme tai saamaamme ainesta, käyttää sitä yksinkertaisesti, ilman liikoja lisämateriaaleja ja monimutkaisia tekniikoita. Käytetyn tavaran, jopa roskan tietynlainen rajallisuus ja toisaalta taas rajattomuus inspiroi. Myös kierrätettyyn materiaaliin liittyvä tarina kiehtoo, sillä on ollut jo jokin käyttötarkoitus ja merkitys, ennen kuin siitä on luovuttu.
Taiteilijoina koemme vahvasti olevamme osa suurempaa kokonaisuutta kuin pelkkää taidemaailmaa. Haluamme jakaa tunteiden käsittelykanavan taiteen kautta myös heille, joilla ei ole tiedostavaa suhdetta taiteeseen. Kierrätysmateriaalien käytön kautta kynnys siihen on matala. Se myös tukee kestävää kehitystä ja on ihan tarkoituksella “silkkaa roskaa!”.
Näyttelyn äänimaailmasta vastaa tamperelainen Deep Sessions, joka teki Inner Dimension -teoksen inspiroituneena Trashific!-kokonaisuudesta.

BCensemble’s exhibition Trashific! deals with stories, life and the passage of time through used, discarded materials.
Garbage accumulated in the household, such as cardboard from food packaging and recycled materials received as a donation, have been used as materials for the works.
The artist couple Milla and Petri Neuvonen have been making recycled art together for over 20 years. They develop working methods according to the respective material. The latest works in the exhibition have been created from donated Art magazines, which together with broken bicycle inner tubes and newspapers left over from craft workshops form a collage-like pair of portraits. They are fascinated by getting a painterly impression from recycled material, even garbage, without losing its recognisability.
“As recycling artists, our work is very material-oriented. We want to respect the material we collect or receive, use it simply, without too many additional materials and complex techniques. The limitedness of used goods, even trash, and on the other hand the limitlessness inspires. The story related to the recycled material is also fascinating, it already had some purpose and meaning before it was abandoned. As artists, we strongly feel that we are part of a bigger whole than just the art world. We want to share a channel for processing emotions through art, even for those who do not have a conscious relationship with art. Through the use of recycled materials, the threshold for this is low. It also supports sustainable development and is deliberately “just trash!”.
The soundworld in the exhibition is a production by Deep Sessions from Tampere. The composition Inner Dimension was inspired by the works in Trashific!-exhibition.
